Josh started his higher education at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina where he received his B.S. in Parks, Recreation & Tourism Management with a concentration in Sports Management. While at NC State, Josh was a three year starter for the wrestling program, competing in the 197 pound weight class from 1997-2000, before sustaining an injury that caused him to end his career in 2001. Before graduating in the spring of 2001, Josh began an internship with the NC State football program that would serve as the beginning of a career in strength and conditioning. After serving in a part-time capacity with the athletic department, Josh began a graduate assistantship, which allowed him to earn his Masters Degree in Higher Education Administration in the fall of 2005. Upon graduating from NC State, Josh moved in to the full-time position of Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach working primarily with the football and wrestling programs. In the fall of 2006, Josh was promoted to Head Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach for football. During the seven years at NC State, Josh worked with four 1st Round NFL Draft Picks: Philip Rivers (#4 2004), Mario Williams (#1 2006), Manny Lawson (#22 2006) & John McCargo (#26 2006). In addition, Josh has worked with NFL Players Adrian Wilson, Terrence Holt, Jericho Cotchery, Tank Tyler & Sean Locklear among many others.
During his time with SpeedTracs, Josh has developed the high school coach training program and personally installed speed stations at over 50 schools across the country. In addition to working with high school coaches to implement SpeedTracs professional speed and agility training programs, Josh has helped SpeedTracs develop college performance tracking software; SportsTracs, currently being used at 3 major Division I Universities. Presently, Josh is developing the on-line training program for college strength and conditioning coaches, which will be used to implement and install SportsTracs at all colleges and universities. In addition, Josh will be launching “XPE/McClure Sports” in September 2010 in Charlotte, NC to work with youth and adults seeking to improve their athletic ability.
Before joining the SpeedTracs Team, Josh held the position of Director of Outside Training at XPE Sports in Roswell, Georgia. During his time at XPE Sports, Josh worked under Tony Villani, founder of XPE Sports and “Master Trainer” for SpeedTracs. While at XPE, Josh was able to learn speed & agility technique and theory from the “maestro.” At XPE Sports, Josh managed 9 area speed stations in Cobb & Fulton counties, working closely with athletic departments and coaching staffs. In addition, Josh worked w/ Tony Villani and the XPE staff during the 2009 NFL Combine training and with off-season NFL training.
Prior to XPE Sports, Josh was the Head Strength Coach/Defensive Backs coach at Chamblee High School in Dekalb County, Georgia, while working as a PE/Health Teacher. In his first and only season at Chamblee, Josh helped the Bulldogs enjoy the best season in school history and reach the 4A State Semifinal Game in the Georgia Dome finishing with a record of 14-2.
